The driver of a dump truck forgot to lower the trailer after he dumped a load at
a disposal facility in Maine. The elevated trailer caught on some utility wires,
causing the truck to turn over and break a utility pole. The resulting power
outage caused a power outage to about 1,000 customers and closed a state road
for hours.
The good news?? The driver had only superficial injuries, probably because he
was wearing his safety belt. Also, because power was out at a nearby school,
the kids got dismissed early.
These types of incidents can be avoided. Do not move forward until the boom,
hoist and other parts of your vehicle are in the down position.
